The name Fasch was added to the original manuscript of this one verse "chorale fantasy" at a later stage. Given the musical style (late 17th-century), the most likely candidate as composer (if is not a previous owner's name?) is the father of the more celebrated Johann Friedrich Fasch, Friedrich Georg. A cleric who served small town churches, his name is associated with other musical manuscripts, and he may have been an amateur composer, too.
